Thank you for visiting the Sheffield Sling Surgery! It is a busy and active Sling Library and Consultancy service, run by Rosie Knowles. She is a GP (hence the name of the service!) and is highly qualified, insured, and BABI registered.
Here are some quick links to the major services provided.
An online advice and support community (on Facebook) for those who use/want to use the Surgery services
“I teach people how to use their carriers safely, comfortably and well, with confidence and enjoyment. I help them negotiate their way through the often confusing and myriad choices out there, and if there are confounding issues such as back pain, unusual body shapes, or specific medical needs I can help you find the right sling for your circumstances.”
There are eight drop-in Sling Library sessions a month (S1 and S11 locations).
Private, personalised one-to-one consultations and small group workshops are also available by arrangement, usually at Rosie’s home near Endcliffe Park in S11. Some of the services have charges (to cover child-care, replacing slings, updating the library, paying for ongoing professional training, room hire etc etc).

Peer Supporter Training
Rosie is licensed as a Babywearing Peer Supporter Trainer by the Born To Carry initiative, and is also the resident GP for the Gentle Parenting resource. She is the in-house consultant for Slumber-Roo and for Oscha Slings, and is one of the co-creators of the Sling Pages resource, an unaffiliated Yellow Pages of the sling world with maps, lists and useful information.
Here’s what some previous visitors to the Sheffield Sling Surgery and Sling Library have had to say about their experience:
“The ring sling workshop was really helpful. Rosie is so informative – and patient! It was great to be able to try so many different types of ring sling. I came away feeling so much more confident.”
“Rosie’s experience has helped me identify a few carriers that would meet mine and my toddler’s needs. Her help in learning how to use them has been fantastic…I’d recommend Rosie to anyone needing help and advice on baby wearing and I’m very grateful for the time she’s given me to help me get back to baby wearing with my toddler.”
“Rosie is sling consultancy at its best. I could never thank her enough for all the support and help she has given me along my baby wearing journey. She’s incredible!”
